It happened to me before it became the reason Hintel exists. I was buying a home in Pokharan Road 1, Thane — did my research, visited a few flats, negotiated what I thought was a fair price, and closed the deal. A few weeks later, I found out a nearly identical flat in the same building had sold for ₹15 lakh less, to someone who simply happened to know the right seller.

I wasn't a bad negotiator. I just didn't have the full picture — and neither does almost anyone buying resale property today.

Every property portal promises transparency, but most of what you see is asking prices written to get you to call: “Yeh toh kal bik gaya sir, do aur hain — dikhaun?” You're never quite sure if a price is real, or if a better one exists two floors down that you'll never hear about.
